The challenge
A new shop with no footprint.
NorCal Precision Auto & Electric Repair opened on Churn Creek Road in Redding with nothing online. No Google Business Profile, no Google reviews, no indexed website. Anyone searching Google for a mechanic couldn't find it.
The road it sits on is shared with shops that have been there for decades, with years of reviews behind them. A shop with a front door can't drive to the customer the way a mobile business can. It has to win searches from one fixed address.
An address with history
The address wasn't new ground. Other businesses had operated from the same spot before and left old listings under their names across the web. Part of the job was untangling that, so Google would trust the address as NorCal's.
The goal wasn't “some rankings.” It was to win specific, high-intent searches fast enough to matter for a business that needed the phone to ring now, not in six months.
What I did
Profile first, then everything else.
Before touching a single ranking tactic, I studied who NorCal was up against and where each competitor was actually weak. I went through every competitor's Google profile, service pages, reviews, schema and site structure by hand.
One gap stood out. None of them owned “electrical repair” as a search, even though it was right there in NorCal's name. That's where I aimed first.
- Google Business Profile, from scratch. Categories, services, description, photos and questions and answers, all in place before launch.
- A sitewide title fix. A template bug was doubling the brand name in every page title. I fixed it on every page.
- A review page. Linked by text and QR code after every completed job.
- Citations and links from zero. A structured campaign across Google, Bing and Apple listings, BBB, Yelp and auto directories like CARFAX and RepairPal, all with the same name, address and phone.
- The address, untangled. Tracking down the old listings tied to the address, so Google could tell NorCal apart from the businesses before it.
- Schema from day one. FAQ and Service structured data on every service page, not added later.
The results
#1 for “auto electrical repair”.
In under a month, NorCal Precision went from no Google presence to #1 on Google for “auto electrical repair” in Redding, ahead of shops that had been in the market for years. It's the exact search the business name was built around.
It still holds #1 organically.
Rank checks are done by hand on Google, from a phone, with the location set to Redding, so the result is what a customer there would actually see.
