A brand that commands attention.
Before anyone reads your copy, they've already formed an opinion.
I build brand identities, from the logo to the colors to the type, that make you look like the serious option in your market. Plenty of good businesses look cheaper than they are, and end up competing on price.
Branding and identity
People judge before they read.
A customer decides how far to trust you from your logo, your colors and your type, before they read a word. Look like the budget option and you get budget customers, and budget questions about your price.
I build complete identity systems: a logo, a color palette, type, and the rules that keep them consistent on your website, your social profiles and everything you print. It's the difference between having a logo and having a brand.
A strong identity does quiet work for search too. The same name and look across your website, your Google Business Profile and your listings make you easy to recognize, and consistent business details are part of what local SEO is built on.
What a brand includes.
Branding and identity
Logo design
A mark that's yours alone, legible on a phone screen, a browser tab and a sign.
Visual identity
Colors, type and imagery that work together and look like the business you are.
Brand guidelines
The rules in writing: logo use, colors, type and spacing, so anyone can keep it consistent.
Website branding
Your identity carried into a site built to rank, by the same person who designed it. Web development
Social media branding
Profile images, covers and post templates that match everything else.
Stationery
Business cards, letterhead, estimates and invoices that look as good as the work.
Marketing materials
Flyers, signs and ads that look like they came from the same place.
Brand strategy
Who you're for, how you sound and why you're the obvious call, settled before anything is drawn.
A working example
The identity on this site.
bossdevs.
bossdevs.
- Wordmark
- Lowercase “bossdevs.” set in Funnel Display 700. It was chosen from options tested in a real phone header, on light and on dark, not on a blank artboard.
- Mark
- A gilded “b.” for the places the full name won't fit, like a browser tab or the corner of a page.
- Color
- Near-black enamel, cool glass and steel. Gold is a role, not a palette: it's saved for one word at a time.
- Type
- Funnel Display for headlines and Funnel Sans for reading: one type family, two jobs.
- Rule
- One gilded word per screen. If everything is gold, nothing is.
From first sketch to the system.
Discover
Your business, your customers and who you're up against. The brand has to stand apart from them, not blend in.
Explore
A few real directions, not one I try to talk you into.
Test it where it lives
Each option on a phone, in a website header and on a dark background, because that's where people will actually see it.
Hand over the system
Final files for print and screen, plus guidelines so it stays consistent long after.
